Media Violence (Informal Tone)

In the first paragraph, there is a grammatical error "... on average college students spend more time each week playing games that reading recreationally, watching television, or going to the movies." The word that is supposed to be than. This particular piece is full of rich and diverse content that ultimately helps the author get the point across. The varied geographic sources of the content, such as Singapore, England, and the United States further increase the level of depth that this piece of writing has. Not only are different geographic locations compared and discussed, but different time periods are as well. This helps to make the argument very well rounded and agreeable.

For an informal tone, the author rarely addresses the audience directly. In fact, he only says you twice. As to be expected with informal tone, the author does use many contractions.

The style of the writing really shines. The flow from sentence to sentence and paragraph to paragraph is incredibly skillful. The author effectively uses the placement of many long sentences followed by a short sentence and vice versa. The sentence structure and vocabulary used is also of a high quality.

Overall, the large vocabulary of the author, the well thought out supporting claims, the direct pop culture references, and the intriguing writing style make this piece of persuasive writing incredibly memorable.
